Mark Zuckerberg says Threads has almost 275M MAUs and is adding more than a million sign ups per day, while Meta AI has passed 500M MAUs in less than a year
RE: https://www.threads.net/... Kurt Wagner / @kurtwag8 : Threads Monthly users: April - 150m July - 175m Aug - 200m Oct - “almost” 275m That's a lot of growth in one year (even if they are pushing Threads to people in IG) Mastodon: @SpaceLifeForm@infosec.exchange : @Techmeme — Sounds like X is no longer a variable, or even a rounding error, but an epsilon. X: @txmctrades : As someone with over a decade working for a mobile dev, user counts are garbage stats that tell you nothing about the frequency of use of your network nor its growth. They are trivially fudged. And for a network like Facebook with several billion installed users, 275M sucks Brad Freeman / @stockmarketnerd : $META Threads now has 275 million Monthly Actives per Zuck just now. Compares to 30 million less than a year ago. @zerohedge : *META'S THREADS APP HAS ALMOST 275 MILLION MONTHLY USERS literally people who log in once a month Mike Swift / @swiftstories : Li says @Meta #AI “continues to be on track to be the most used AI assistant in the world by end of year.” Has over 500 million monthly active users. #Meta Forums: BeauHD / Slashdot : Meta AI Surpasses 500 Million Users
Meta is also reporting rapid adoption for Meta AI, placing its consumer AI product alongside a social platform that is still adding users at scale. The paired disclosures highlight the reach Meta can marshal across multiple consumer products.
First-order effects
Threads gains a larger reported monthly audience and a sustained acquisition signal, strengthening Meta’s case to creators, publishers and prospective commercial partners that the network is becoming a material social distribution channel.
Meta AI’s reported 500M monthly users gives Meta a much larger installed base for iterating on the product and making it a more prominent part of its consumer offerings.
Second-order effects
A growing Threads audience raises the cost for rival text-centric networks and decentralized alternatives to retain creators and attention; they must compete against a platform benefiting from Meta’s existing consumer reach.
If user growth converts into repeat engagement, social-network competition may increasingly favor companies that can route users through established consumer ecosystems rather than services built as standalone destinations.
The Meta AI result is another instance of an existing Meta audience base being extended into new products: consumer AI competition may turn as much on distribution and integration as on model capability, though MAU disclosures alone do not establish depth of use.
The trend: Consumer platforms are using existing social reach to accelerate adoption of both new networks and AI assistants, making distribution an increasingly central competitive advantage.
this app now has 275 million monthly users, up from 200 million in August, says @zuck on Meta's earnings call just now seeing more than 1 million sign-ups per day now. Threads is on track to becoming “our next major social app,” he says
Threads has now almost 275mn monthly active users. Once ads and brand deals start happening here, it's over. It'll be filled with insta type influencers and their brain dead trends, and low tier meme slop. Let's enjoy the light show before the nuclear mushroom engulfs us.
We need to figure out a new name for Metcalfe law/network effect when these numbers are due in large part to the fact that the entity already has 3 billion+ daily active users across its family of apps and is easily able to shovel some of them into its newest app
This is up from 150mm in April. So approaching 100% growth in 6 months. Question for you, a person using Threads: does this place feel like it has nearly double since the spring?
*Threads has marginal conversion of click throughs from their 2B+ active users across FB + Insta that, maybe once a week or every few weeks, click a deep link insertion from threads and pop over for like a few minutes a month Would be my guess Bc the VIPs aren't here and it feels…
