This detailed, wildly optimistic yet sober imagining of how AI could change the world for the better in the next 10 years by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei should be getting a lot more attention than it has so far https://darioamodei.com/... [image]

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei wrote a massive essay on, mostly, the benefits of AI. I asked ChatGPT 4o to summarize its top 10 highlights 1. AI's Radical Upside: Amodei believes the potential benefits of AI are vastly underestimated, comparable to its risks. …

As someone researching precisely this topic — impact of AI on bio + medicine — I gotta say, yes, it has been and will continue to be huge. But this timeline strikes me as pretty silly. The systematic error all the AI CEOs of this sort make is that they try to fit the timeline …

Great to see this long piece from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei about how much good AI can do, juxtaposed with how risky it is. https://darioamodei.com/... The opponents of AI safety work want you to believe people only think one thing or the other, but both things can be true at th…

The world is still not ready for a “country of geniuses in a datacenter” - but I think 5-15 years is a fair timeline for this, and it will matter how many data centers we can build with how many geniuses per center. We are living in the most important decade of human history eve…

I thought this, by the CEO of Anthropic, was very interesting - especially the first two sections on biology and neuroscience - since he is quite specific and detailed about where powerful AI might allow us to make breakthroughs in the next decade or two. https://darioamodei.com/…

Dario Amodei says when AGI arrives it will be smarter than Nobel Prize winners, will run millions of instances of itself at 10-100x human speed (possible on the clusters of 2027) and can be summarized as a “country of geniuses in a data center” [image]

I don't want to say this claim by Amodei is complete fantasy but it sure as hell won't happen in 2027. This is what a culture of never holding Valley people accountable for their promises has led to.

This is a fantastic essay, filled with insight. I'm very happy to see a frontier lab CEO acknowledge inherent limits to intelligence, which have been at the heart of my own critiques of AI safety discourse and policy. [image]

This essay is measured and spectacular. It resonates strongly with intuitions that for me have been latent, but in the piece have concrete, evidenced examples. One thing I really like is that it tasks AI Safety with eliminating the blockers to this vision.

It's refreshing to see Anthropic push back against the vaguely defined concept of AGI. See Jack Clark/Dario Amodei's quotes. Even Sam Altman said recently: You and I will probably not agree on the month or even the year that we're like, “Okay, now that's AGI.” Nonetheless, many […

One of the most fun parts about Anthropic is when Dario pops up with a really long doc about AI. I'm glad he's decided to publish this one - it tackles the question of if we get alignment right, what kinds of amazing benefits could AI yield?

What could possibly go right? There are serious challenges ahead as AI becomes more powerful, but I love it when people provide their vision of a positive future like @DarioAmodei does in this essay.

The “compressed 21st century”: a great essay on what it might look like to make 100 years of progress in 10 years post AGI (if all goes well). Favorite phrase: “a country of geniuses in a datacenter”

Every two weeks, Dario hosts informal vision talks for our team here at Anthropic. They're a fascinating meditation on the immense promise of the technology we're building. I'm so glad that the world can now get a glimpse of these conversations through Machines of Loving Grace.
