Today's update extends that arc to closing documents — native PDF signing — and to distribution, with iMessage file sharing.
The iPad features are catch-up rather than invention: Apple shipped split-screen and picture-in-picture in iOS 9 over a year ago, and Dropbox is only now wiring its app into PiP, with split-screen promised later this year.
