Meta positioned its assistant across its consumer apps after initially unveiling it for WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram, then expanding the assistant across Facebook and other markets. The new usage split shows that distribution is not equivalent across those surfaces.

The finding follows Meta’s report of more than 400 million monthly Meta AI users, while its rollout was still incomplete in major markets. It makes WhatsApp—not Instagram—the clearest existing entry point for Meta AI’s international reach.
