    It's going to be really hard to hit net zero (or even get close) with data centre electricity consumption growing at these kind of rates.

    There is no feasible path to net zero, to say nothing of bringing material use within planetary boundaries, within Ireland's growth model. Absolute decoupling is utterly insufficient. Growing energy demand serves multinationals and undermines the provision of basic social need.

    In case you're wondering why such firms base themselves here when when we have very high electricity costs it's because our year round cool climate easily makes up for that extra cost due to needing to use much less power for Summer cooling.
