Messari CEO Ryan Selkis says he's stepping down after a series of controversial political X posts, and Chief Revenue Officer Eric Turner will become interim CEO
publicly, on here — that he wished he could deport him. Jimmy Skuros / @jskuros : Two years back @twobitidiot recruited me to join @MessariCrypto team. First thing I noticed when joining was the talent density of the team. Ryan seeded a crypto obsessed culture of meritocracy, intensity and iterative improvement. These enshrined principles remains strong at Eric Turner / @ericturnr : Thank you to everyone for the calls, texts, DMs, carrier pigeons, etc. The amount of messages has been overwhelming. I'm excited for the next chapter at @MessariCrypto, but for now, I am going to log off and touch some grass. I'll get back to everyone this weekend Will Comyns / @willcomyns : Joining @MessariCrypto as a community analyst was the single most impactful thing I have done for my career. Because of @twobitidiot, I am now working full-time in crypto in a position I never would have had access to without my experience at Messari. I am forever grateful for Mason Nystrom / @masonnystrom : I owe a significant portion of my career to @twobitidiot. I'm grateful for all the work Selkis has done for @MessariCrypto and our industry. Messari has played a positive role in driving our industry forwards, bringing more transparent data, analysis, and information to crypto. @gigamesh : Kudos to Messari It's not just Selkis though. Many crypto VCs and founders have endorsed a candidate who doesn't accept the peaceful transfer of power. They are explicitly endorsing political violence. ex: @a16z @pmarca @bhorowitz Leo Schwartz / @leomschwartz : Update on Ryan Selkis stepping down from Messari — I spoke with a board member and investor, who said the decision was reached after Selkis “went too far” with some of his posts. Selkis will likely continue to be involved with Mainnet, but might not be emcee as in years past: [image] Tim Copeland / @timccopeland : The new messari ceo has the chance to do the funniest thing by putting out the most woke leftist tweets possible Ben Weiss / @bdanweiss : ryan selkis, one of crypto's more vocal influencers, lives a charmed life. he owns a house near Baltimore. he's well-educated. he has a large family. why, then, does @twobitidiot seem so pissed off? i dug into the source of his rage for @dlnewsinfo: https://www.dlnews.com/... Molly White / @molly0xfff : I guess if a pillow company CEO can pull off the pivot to right-wing talking head maybe a crypto CEO has a shot at it Ben O'Neill / @benhoneill : I appreciate @twobitidiot for all the work he's done for @MessariCrypto and crypto over the last decade. I know the company is in excellent hands with @ericturnr and can't wait to see what they do next. He is one of the indisputable good guys & right man for the role. Onwards.
Dude has not been mentally well for many years at this point, but you don't lose your CEO job for being crazy and tweeting it in crypto, you lose your CEO job because the business isn't working.
A leader's first responsibility is to his team. This week was the first week in 6.5 years that my politics and rhetoric put the team in harms way. As such, I have decided to step aside as CEO. My friend, colleague, and founding teammate @ericturnr will be taking the helm. [image]
Ryan recently let us know of his decision to step back from an operational role as the CEO of Messari so that he can focus his time fully on crypto policy and national issues of importance to him. Messari would not be the company it is today, or what it will be in the future,
Ryan has built something special over the past 6.5 years and its been incredible to watch the growth of @MessariCrypto I look forward to continuing our work in his new Senior Advisor role and turning my focus towards delivering the tools, data, and research to bring
ppl talking crazy abt selkis he's said some things i find pretty disagreeable, but: 1) he's always had his eye on the ball, while most don't even know which game is being played, and 2) he takes calculated shots on the ball, even if ridiculed for doing so you don't get to
Ryan is consumed by anger, said things weren't well received. Stepped down as CEO. Many won't say this but close to 50% of the Americans also feel this level of anger after seeing the assassination attempt. I hope him the best, Ryan will come back stronger, that man never quits
.@twobitidiot has done a lot for crypto and, based on all my dealings with him, is a decent, well-meaning person. Hope he can turn it around Best of luck to the Messari team, which will for now be led by long-time steady hand @ericturnr https://fortune.com/...
Much love to @twobitidiot for building an incredible team and product at @MessariCrypto. 6.5 years in the trenches flew by, my friend. The company is in good hands with @ericturnr who's been at Messari since the beginning. The Day 1 mentality continues to thrive
@twobitidiot @ericturnr Contrary to appearances, I think you are a humble person. Crypto and politics are now inseparable. Keep up the good work to advance this industry. Thanks, Ryan!
