So... after 14 yrs leading Android engineering, I've decided it's time for a change. An awe-inspiring ride helping build the biggest OS on the planet (+ many Nexus/Pixel). I'm forever grateful for the opp. Continuing as advisor while figuring out what's next in AI/bio. More here:…

Congratulations Dave! Had fun collaborating on AAH and Nexus back in the day You will be missed at Google

David Burke is one of the true believers who kept the core Android OS open and standards-aligned. Google should clean house of the crooks and schemers who were discredited in front of judge and jury in Epic v Google. Instead, they're doubling down, pushing the good guys out.

A lot of shakeup happening in the Platforms & Devices side of Google lately. I will certainly be intrigued to see who steps in as the next Android eng VP. Not a great way to follow WWDC, though.

Sad news, one of the greats that kept @Android open. Well, almost open. Dialer, files, gallery, now all missing. Problem is, whoever succeeds Dave is even less likely to keep it open. You can't build a phone today from #AOSP alone. Sad. Was a mandate.
