Google Photos launched in 2015 with machine-learning search and auto-created montages, but album-building remained manual. This update moves curation itself into the product: Google proposes albums, picks the best frames, tags locations, and embeds maps without user input.

It is the first step in a decade-long arc visible across the coverage: automatic GIF generation and memory highlights followed within months, then suggested sharing based on who's pictured in 2017, an editor with a Suggestions tab recommending edits like Color Pop by 2020, and AI auto-grouping Photo Stacks in 2023.
