Stack Overflow signs a deal with OpenAI to supply data to its models; new integrations between Stack Overflow and OpenAI should be available by the end of June

here's why it'll transform LLM development Ryan Daws / Developer Tech News : Stack Overflow and OpenAI partner to empower developers Luke Jones / WinBuzzer : Stack Overflow and OpenAI Forge Partnership to Enhance AI and Developer Tools Threads: Menotti Minutillo / @menottim : it kinda stinks that so much of the old community internet is becoming slop for the ai gods' consumption @georgescriban : Were you helpful to someone on Stack Overflow?  Congrats, you just provided unpaid labor to Sam Altman. Mastodon: Bianca Kastl / @bkastl@mastodon.social : All the programming code copy paste in a larger code copy paste will just lead to technological waste. https://stackoverflow.co/... Jason Punyon / @JasonPunyon@fosstodon.org : Welp, it's official.  All Stack Overflow contributions are simply grist for the AI mill.  If you're still contributing there, it's probably time to stop. #stackoverflow  —  https://stackoverflow.co/... Bluesky: @ctype.bsky.social : It will further degrade the quality of ai answers. X: Prashanth Chandrasekar / @pchandrasekar : We're thrilled to announce that @StackOverflow is partnering with @OpenAI to bring best in class technical knowledge and the world's most popular LLM models for AI development together!  This groundbreaking partnership with OpenAI will drive our mission to empower the world to develop technology through collective knowledge.  Thanks to @sama and @bradlightcap for their partnership! Andrew Curran / @andrewcurran_ : Satya travels the world building castles, physical locations, and infrastructure. While Sam constantly builds accords and secures training data. [image] @svpino : Like a phoenix. Rising from the ashes. If you can't beat them, join them. Theo / @t3dotgg : AI is good because of the troves of human-curated information it is trained on. As human-curated info becomes harder and harder to find, we enter a chaotic cycle where AI is (unknowningly) trained on the outputs of other AI. [image] @openai : We're partnering with @StackOverflow to enhance the developer experience on both platforms: https://openai.com/... Bojan Tunguz / @tunguz : It's over @tekbog : can't wait to have ChatGPT tell me my question is stupid and close the chat with a redirect link to an entire different problem from 2007 @iamnomad : All the answers are going to be like “Nevermind. Found the answer” No further details. Greg Brockman / @gdb : Announcing partnership with @StackOverflow: @_benui : Stack Overflow announced that they are partnering with OpenAI, so I tried to delete my highest-rated answers. I found that Stack Overflow does not let you delete questions that have accepted answers and many upvotes because it would “remove knowledge from the community”. [image] Dare Obasanjo / @carnage4life : The motive for answering questions on Stack Overflow is usually to pay it forward by helping other developers. Now that those answers will fuel the engines that want to replace programmers with AIs, will people still contribute? I suspect existing users still will but less n00bs [image] Florian Mueller / @florian4gamers : Stack Overflow not also has a deal with OpenAI, last year, when they said they'd charge AI providers, someone rightly brought up the question of whether they'd pass that money on to the *actual* content creators, Stack Overflow's users: https://twitter.com/... @stackoverflow : We're thrilled to announce we're partnering with @OpenAI to bring best in class technical knowledge and the world's most popular LLM models for AI development together! This groundbreaking partnership with OpenAI will drive our mission to empower the world to develop technology... [image] Klaas / @forgebitz : oh no [image] @nixcraft : Everyone should immediately stop contributing to the stack overflow and its network. The human touch is what made it unique. Delete your profile from SO AND all your answers. Freeloaders are making money out of human contributions. LinkedIn: Kevin Van Wieren : It's an exciting day here at Stack Overflow given today's partnership announcement with OpenAI.  If you'd like to learn more, please don't hesitate to reach me directly. … Brett Goodman : We're thrilled to announce we're partnering with OpenAI to bring best in class technical knowledge and the world's most popular LLM models for AI development together! … Ryan Polk : Stack Overflow and OpenAI are partnering to bring best in class technical knowledge and the world's most popular LLM models for AI development together! … Amol Shah : Exciting Monday update!  OpenAI and StackOverflow are partnering to strengthen OpenAI capabilities in coding for developers and enterprises … Adam Goldberg : “OpenAI and Stack Overflow are coming together via OverflowAPI access to provide OpenAI users and customers with the accurate and vetted data foundation … Jody Bailey : We are excited to announce that Stack Overflow and OpenAI are joining forces to bring best in class technical knowledge and the world's most popular LLM models for AI development together! … Forums: Hacker News : OpenAI API Partnership with Stack Overflow r/ChatGPT : Stack Overflow signs deal with OpenAI to supply data to its models
