Microsoft confirmed in mid-January that Windows Phone's Word Flow keyboard would come to other platforms starting with iOS, and within days it began inviting Insiders to test an iOS build whose headline feature is a fanned arc layout for one-handed typing. A hands-on video of the private beta followed in April before the keyboard shipped publicly.

The move matters because Word Flow was one of the few genuinely differentiated pieces of Windows Phone software, and porting it to iOS puts Microsoft's mobile UX work directly onto the platform where its Office ambitions already live.
