ChatGPT had moved from broad awareness to meaningful use quickly: a March 2023 survey found that 58% of US adults had heard of it but just 14% had tried it. By mid-2023, chatbot use was already concentrated among Gen Z despite comparable awareness of competing tools such as Bing Chat and Bard.
