X files a defamation lawsuit against Media Matters, claiming the outlet “knowingly and maliciously” misrepresented the amount of antisemitic content on X

I wonder which advertisers she expects to be gullible enough to fall for this?  —  [image] Bluesky: Danilo / @danilo.redeem-tomorrow.com : Cannot WAIT for the discovery on this one [embedded post] X: Linda Yaccarino / @lindayax : If you know me, you know I'm committed to truth and fairness.  Here's the truth.  Not a single authentic user on X saw IBM's, Comcast's, or Oracle's ads next to the content in Media Matters' article.  Only 2 users saw Apple's ad next to the content, at least one of which was Media Matters.  Data wins over manipulation or allegations.  Don't be manipulated.  Stand with X. I'm not here to defend Media Matters but X's lawsuit against them is a sad attempt by Musk to redirect. Advertisers are pulling out due to first part of headline which isn't questioned - the owner and most influential account on X agreed with and amplified antisemitism. 1/5 [image] Ben Collins / @oneunderscore__ : After years of presenting shams about government censorship, this is an actual government censorship and chilling of speech through intimidation and lawfare on behalf of the richest man in America. @xdaily : NEWS: Ubisoft is suspending its ads on X/Twitter. The list also includes: - Apple, $AAPL - Disney, $DIS - Paramount, $PARA - Lionsgate - IBM, $IBM - Comcast/NBC Universal, $CMCSA - The European Commission [image] Nandini Jammi / @nandoodles : The truth is that those ads all ran on X because @integralads' brand safety technology failed to prevent toxic ad placements on the platform. If anything, Elon should be suing @Lisa_Utz for causing him to lose dozens of advertisers over the last week. [image] Paris Marx / @parismarx : It's incredibly dangerous how the richest man in the world — deluded by paranoia, narcissism, and far-right conspiracies — can get arms of the state to go after his perceived enemies instead of holding him to account as they should be doing. Parker Molloy / @parkermolloy : So, to recap, Musk confirmed all of MMFA's reporting, and is suing them because...? Jason Kint / @jason_kint : And what if I told you “As Musk Endorses Antisemitic Conspiracy Theory,” isn't the claim X is suing over? And the owner of the company, Musk, did indeed agree with and amplify an antisemitic post - and maybe that's why major advertisers don't want to align with this platform... @xdaily : LAWSUIT SUMMARY: X Corp filed a defamation lawsuit against Media Matters for America and one of its writers, Eric Hananoki. The key allegations are: 1) Media Matters published an article on November 16, 2023 with the headline “X has been placing ads for Apple, Bravo, IBM,... [image] Scott Budman / @scottbudman : #Breaking: X (Twitter) has filed a lawsuit against @mmfa: Claim: “Media Matters knowingly and maliciously manufactured side-by-side images depicting advertisers' posts on X Corp.'s social media platform beside Neo-Nazi and white-nationalist fringe content ...” Ben Collins / @oneunderscore__ : Media Matters suit filed by Musk's X Corp here. He single out a staffer, @ehananoki, when filing it. https://storage.courtlistener.com/ ... @jason : Media matters is a great brand name, but it won't protect you if you're committing fraud! Yashar Ali / @yashar : NEWS Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is opening an investigation into Media Matters for “potential fraudulent activity” after X CEO Elon Musk accused the left-wing media watchdog group of manipulating data on the social media platform. Via Fox News Jason Kint / @jason_kint : This is a frankly dumb statistic. I would be fairly certain most users on X reading my tweet right now generate an order of magnitude more advertisements per hour than the average user. Anyone who understands social media gets this. 2/5 [image] Glenn Greenwald / @ggreenwald : Just received - X v. Media Matters: [image] See also Mediagazer

The leader of the free speech platform formerly known as Twitter is calling for criminal charges against a journalist whose coverage he does not like.  I just deleted the app from my phone.
