Me and my friends at Meta are so excited to introduce you to an iconic new AI named Amber, your detective partner for solving crime.  🕵🏼✨ You can chat with Amber across Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, just DM @AmberTheDetective to get started.  Meta AIs rolling out to US users…

@Meta Many people ask me whether LLMs will make web search engines less valuable, but the opposite is actually the case. LLMs make web search more critical than ever, since the combination of LLMs + web search is what produces fresher and more accurate chat results.
  • @rihardjarc Rihard Jarc on x
In general it doesn't matter how good your LLM model is if it is good enough for people's everyday questions and needs. You don't need a chess master as an AI chatbot. The real money will be made with average people everyday use cases assisted by AI.

@DMattin Makes sense. If they can pull this off, there's potential to do cameo at scale.

I continue to think Meta's approach to AI safety is really irresponsible, but credit where it's due for making an effort to red-team models before deployment [image]

Meta/ Zuck can potentially democratize Gen AI among billions of users in the coming years No other platform has 2B DAUs / 3B MAUs spending 60+ mins daily Now they are building tools to further enrich engagement - - Meta AI as a personal assistant - AI personalities to engage, lea…

Are people so desperate to talk to celebrities that they'd talk to AI versions of them? Meta's new AI chatbots have @MrBeast, @TomBrady, @ParisHilton, @KylieJenner, and more. [image]

I'm excited to share that @Meta is integrating Bing web search into the Meta AIs available within WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. If a request requires fresh information, Meta AI will automatically ask Bing to get the chat answer.

It was hard to tell what this was in the demo but Meta confirms they are full-on AIs w/ audio coming next year. It's mum on what celebs are being paid, but I'm guessing revenue shares, advertising opps, and the promise of more ‘authentic engagement’ to help scale their brands.

Can someone draw me a diagram of the Microsoft / OpenAI / Meta friend/frenemy relationship?

One interesting thing to note, Mark's speech also emphasized building responsibly. That echoes what we heard from Google last week “Bold and responsible.” Whether or not that's actually being implemented, it's clear that “build fast; break things” is no longer a bragging point [i…

Meta just spit in every digital creators face. “AI managed by Meta” is a funny way to describe a bot. Celebrities licensing their likeness to create chat bots to mine your data🤦🏾‍♂️ Even the images are generated in AI. Some things aren't meant to be built. This has zero good... […

$META about to dominate the AI chatbot market. Why? DISTRIBUTION to 3.5B people!
  • @issielapowsky Issie Lapowsky on x
These celebrity embodiments of Meta AI assistants is...so deeply confusing to me. Do they just look at your quizzically as you have a conversation with a chatbot? Or what am I missing?
  • @kantrowitz Alex Kantrowitz on x
Zuck's opening speech at Connect was the most convincing argument for the metaverse he's made to date, likely because it started with augmented reality vs. virtual reality

I think the use case of the specialized AI is reaching a broad audience that will experiment with the characters thereby further training the models.
