Judge Kaplan: What did you do? Salame: I made $10 million in political contributions and called them loans, which I never intended to repay. This was supported by Sam Bankman-Fried. I knew it was prohibited. Judge Kaplan: Government? AUSA: We can proffer on venue

“In total, RYAN SALAME, the defendant, and his co-conspirators made over 300 political contributions, totaling tens of millions of dollars, that were unlawful because they were made in the name of a straw donor or paid for with corporate funds.” [image]

Former FTX exec Ryan Salame has pled guilty to two charges in the ongoing FTX trial. Many had been wondering when an indictment would come out against him, particularly as his donations to Republican political causes had already been alleged to have been straw donations.

Reading further from the original court documents (was working off secondary reporting above), it sounds to me like the $6 million, two properties, car, and ownership/equity in his East Rood Farm Corp. will be the entirety of his payment towards the $1.5 billion money judgment. […

AUSA: Some of the politicians were in the Southern District of New York. Salame: As Alameda's head of settlements I used banks, one used in California. I was unaware licensure was required. But now I know. AUSA: On venue, wires transferred through the SDNY

Confused? The gist of the campaign-finance charge against Ryan Salame is what has already been alleged. Prosecutors allege that Salame made contributions to GOP politicians with money that was not his, but really a loan from Alameda. And yet the loan was never going to be repaid
