@Techmeme @dsilverman As usual, the lede gets buried in the text.  —  “NHTSA reminds the public that all advanced driver assistance systems require the human driver to be in control and fully engaged in the driving task at all times.  Accordingly, all state laws hold the human dr…

@Techmeme All the other car makers are miles behind or havent even started with self driving ... so this makes sense.

I stand firm in my long held view that no such “assistance” system should be called “autopilot” or “full self driving” and that Tesla should be banned from using such terms until the area is properly regulated. Too many Tesla fan boys think their cars can drive themselves https:/…

This seems like a misleading headline. FSD & Autopilot involved in 736 crashes since 2019. For reference in 2022, 42,939 people died in US car crashes. There are approximately 2m US car crashes per year. This Tesla connection seems statistically irrelevant. https://twitter.com/..…

Since 2019, 91% (736/807) of autonomous vehicle crashes involved Tesla cars. This included 17 fatalities. More than 2/3 of these accidents occurred in the last year, after Tesla removed radar sensors from its vehicles. https://twitter.com/... [image]

“The number of deaths and serious injuries associated with Autopilot also has grown significantly, the data shows.” Uh, no shit? The more vehicles on the road, the more crashes there will be. True whether they are autonomous or not. https://twitter.com/...
