Ultraleap's hardware comeback closes a decade-long loop. The original Leap Motion shipped in 2013; the company then chased VR with the Orion sensor demo, put its tracking on Samsung's Gear VR, and bet its identity on the open-source Project North Star AR dev kit. When the gesture-tracking hype cooled, Leap Motion sold itself to UltraHaptics for roughly a tenth of its peak valuation, forming today's Ultraleap.

Since then the merged company rebuilt around ultrasound haptics plus hand tracking, and its $82M Series D led by Tencent funded exactly this kind of product cycle.
