Bard now generates, debugs, and explains code across more than 20 languages — C++, JavaScript, and Python among them — with direct export to Colab, turning the chatbot from a text answerer into a working developer surface.

The cadence matters: within weeks of launch Bard gained availability in 180 countries (the May expansion), then background code execution for math and string manipulation in June, then 43 more languages in July. Coding wasn't a one-off feature drop but the first plank of Google's sprint to close the gap on rival chatbots.
