Netflix $NFLX reveals that its ad-supported tier ($6.99/mo.) drives more ARPU than the Standard tier ($15.49/mo.) in the US, but US+Canada ARPU decreased sequentially from Q4, which likewise decreased sequentially from Q3 (ads introduced in Nov.) (1/X) https://twitter.com/...

If we are reading it correctly, @Netflix ARPU from its advertising tier subscribers is OVER $8.50/sub/month $NFLX (only launched in November with limited targeting) Release says total ARPU from ad tier subs (ads + $6.99 sub fee) is above standard ad-free plan ($15.49 in US) https…

Anyone who thought it could go much higher was in fantasyland. Getting more than half of US households to adopt 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 is ridiculously hard. DVRs topped out at about 1/2 of US households! https://twitter.com/...

Another flat-ish quarter for Netflix growth in the U.S. and Canada, adding just 100,000. Netflix subs in the region are just about what they were a year ago — 74.4 million compared to 74.6 million a year earlier.

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos says there's no plans to send more Netflix films to theaters. “Driving folks to a theater is just not our business. Having big new desirable content drives value for our members and drives value for our business.” (Source: https://thr.cm/TFXizn7) https…

Netflix is making more money from its cheaper tier + ads than just subs. Maybe people will now realizing that charging people for content AND monetizing with ads at the same time is the best model. https://twitter.com/...

It's a mature business in the U.S. All of streaming probably is...That's the core problem for all media and media wanna be's...The narrative of endless growth was wrong...Welcome to your new lower margin-hard to scale-high priced-super competitive media distribution system... htt…

Not that long ago $NFLX was an endless cash burning business today they reported $2.1B in FCF in Q1. With the crackdown on password sharing, ad tier maturing and AI helping reduce costs of content production the business might become a cash printer.

there are significantly less films available for streaming than were at video stores / on home video and because of licensing rights and algorithmic curatorial demands, there always will be. netflix dvd remains the only way you can see *many* films. this is a true loss. https://t…

Netflix winding down DVD shipments this fall after 25 years! I remember they sent early customers a plastic DVD holder. And the time we pitched them to partner with Half / eBay. They didn't do that deal but we indirectly sold tens of millions of their used DVDs over the years. ht…

Awful news for movie lovers in the US. Netflix's mail service is shutting down in September. Their selection is broader than any streaming service. This is a huge blow to those of us who like a wide variety of films. Countless films will be harder to see. https://about.netflix.co…

In 2013, Netflix made more than $900 million from renting DVDs by mail. Last year, it couldn't top $150 million. So $NFLX has announced “the last season” for the business that took down Blockbuster Video, with the final discs going out in Sept. https://www.marketwatch.com/ ... ht…
