Microsoft could soon get a return on its $1 billion investment in OpenAI, creator of the ChatGPT chatbot, which gives humanlike text answers to questions.
The reported search integration became a two-way channel when OpenAI later planned to make Bing the default search experience in ChatGPT. Baidu’s planned chatbot embedded in its main search service shows the model was already becoming a competitive search-product pattern.

The more interesting thesis to me is that discontinuity in the user interface as you move some searches to LLMs creates the opportunity for a market share shift. I'm not sure I believe that, though.
I really don't understand the idea that producing search results using LLMs will change the search business model. You might get an answer instead of a link with an ad, but then that was always true. Not all searches can be monetised. 1/
