Facebook's July 2015 floating-video test lets a playing clip shrink into a corner so users keep scrolling the feed underneath — an early move in the company's run of video experiments that year, which by October included a dedicated video feed with bookmarking and the same multitasking behavior.
The pattern matters because each test chips away at the newsfeed as Facebook's single surface: later coverage shows Watch Party co-viewing in groups and Messenger watch-together code, and ultimately plans for a full-screen immersive video player replacing the newsfeed at app launch.
