This 2015 partnership is the earliest data point in what becomes Qualcomm's signature IoT move: pairing its silicon with a reference design so device makers can ship faster. The same playbook reappears two years later with a reference design for smart speakers supporting Alexa and Google Assistant, and again in headphones via the QCC5100 headset design and the later development kit built with Google for Assistant-enabled Bluetooth headphones.
