I'm happy to see this. At the same time, the fact that we (humanity collectively) took this long and didn't do this back in April...or May...or June...or July...is a shame. Trends are clear - believe in the technology. We can't wait 6 months post-threshold for consensus on bio.

From the OpenAI blog. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, and Hugging Face have all signed. Among other things they are calling for governments to directly fund cyber defense by giving essential services access to ‘capable defensive AI.’

These companies should start (1) sharing large-scale Internet telemetry to enable tracking of malicious cyber actors across various personas, VPS, endpoints, websites, and core Internet services, (2) co-develop detection analytics that run across federated threat tracking

Consider this my endorsement of this letter. There are technical solutions to most problems in cyber security and AI can efficiently apply all of them at scale. Enable your security team to be a force multiplier with these tools, not a permanent cost center.
