Sources: Anthropic's bankers said the company could raise $100B+ in its IPO, which could value it at $2T, in recent discussions with potential investors

New York Times

Context & Ripple Effects

The valuation ladder here has been climbing fast: talks last summer to raise $3B-$5B at a $150B+ valuation, then early-2026 discussions of at least $30B at $900B+ (per Bloomberg), and now bankers floating a $100B+ raise at $2T — a figure the relationships note would exceed SpaceX's valuation.

The pitch bankers are taking to investors leans on Anthropic's own projections: a $47B revenue run rate as of May scaling to ~$190B-$200B by 2028 (Reuters reported the projections), while banks competing for IPO roles have pushed the revolving credit facility past its ~$10B target.

First-order effects

  • Investors in recent discussions are being offered allocations in what would be the largest IPO on record if it matches or exceeds SpaceX's, with Anthropic raising $100B+ at a $2T valuation.
  • Anthropic enters the listing window with committed liquidity already secured — banks fighting for lead roles have oversubscribed its credit facility before any shares are sold.

Second-order effects

  • A $2T benchmark resets the pricing reference for every other frontier lab and AI-infrastructure supplier still raising privately, forcing their next rounds to be defended against a public mark.
  • Earlier backers — including the Middle Eastern investors courted in the 2025 round — gain a credible path to partial exit liquidity at a multiple of their entry valuations.

Third-order effects

  • If the pattern holds, frontier labs shift from closed private mega-rounds to recurring public capital cycles, putting their training capex and revenue curves under quarterly market scrutiny for the first time.
  • Public markets become a primary funding layer for frontier-model compute, extending the financialization of AI infrastructure beyond private credit and vendor financing.

The trend: Frontier AI labs are graduating from private mega-rounds into public-market capital cycles, with Anthropic's potential record IPO as the template-setting data point.

My wild ass guess: $2 trillion IPO price going to $3 trillion on day one then choppy from there. NYTimes: “Anthropic's bankers said the San Francisco company could seek to raise more than $100 billion in its initial public offering, two people with knowledge of the conversations

OpenAI was told to delay its IPO by advisors because it couldn't get a $1 trillion valuation but Anthropic is looking for $2 trillion + to raise $100bn, at this point I think there's a real chance that Sammy can't make this thing float. Dumber shit has happened of course

2 trillion would mean that Anthropic thinks it's equivalent to the 15th-biggest country in the world (by GDP)

🍦SCOOP: Anthropic could raise more than $100B in its upcoming IPO at a $2T valuation. That would make it the largest-ever public offering! Potential investors have been digging into Anthropic's business on: - how Anthropic's AI models can continue to improve - will Anthropic
