Sources: Anthropic expects to match or beat the size of SpaceX's record-setting IPO, as it prepares to file publicly for its IPO as soon as the end of August

Anthropic PBC expects to match or beat the size of SpaceX's record-setting initial public offering, according to people familiar with the matter …

Bloomberg

Context & Ripple Effects

Anthropic's prospective market debut has moved from early discussions of a Q4 IPO to a financing process drawing competing banks. Its credit facility was reportedly set to exceed its roughly $10 billion target, giving the company another source of capital as it prepares for a public offering.

The proposed scale is being framed against Anthropic's projected 2028 revenue of roughly $190 billion to $200 billion, linking the IPO narrative to the growth assumptions bankers and investors have been assessing.

First-order effects

  • Anthropic gains a clearer path to begin its public filing process while seeking an offering large enough to rival SpaceX's record-setting IPO.
  • Banks competing for Anthropic's lending and underwriting business face a more immediate contest for roles around both the credit facility and a potential listing.

Second-order effects

  • Investors evaluating Anthropic's eventual valuation will have to reconcile its reported $47 billion May revenue run rate and longer-range projections with the capital required for its compute and enterprise plans.
  • A large Anthropic offering would give the company more flexibility to fund its stated work on custom semiconductors and enterprise products without relying solely on private financing.

Third-order effects

  • If Anthropic completes a listing at the scale it is targeting, large AI developers may increasingly combine bank credit with public equity markets to finance compute-intensive expansion.
  • The financing sequence would make public-market confidence in AI revenue trajectories a more consequential constraint on how quickly frontier-model companies can scale.

The trend: Anthropic's IPO preparation is part of AI developers turning projected enterprise revenue and expanding credit access into a route toward public-market financing for compute-heavy growth.

Anthropic is reportedly preparing to publicly file for its IPO as soon as the end of August. The company expects to raise at least as much as SpaceX's record $75 billion debut, potentially making it the largest IPO in history (~$ 2tn valuation)

So Anthropic IPO is reportedly set to happen by the end of this year... what we've seen in the last few months: $SPCX IPO > the entire sector was dragged down with it immediately afterwards Unitree IPO > the entire robotics sector took a hit Even $CBRS IPO back in May...

🦔Anthropic expects its IPO to match or beat SpaceX's record $75 billion raise and could file publicly within weeks. Q2 revenue was $11.5 billion. The 2025 net loss was nearly $42 billion. Investors are floating a $2 trillion valuation based on projections of $190 to $200 billion

Anthropic expects to match $SPCX record IPO size or top it. Implies $75B+ at $1.8T+ valuation. Anthropic already has more ARR than SPCX so seems reasonable. Should unlock a lot of investment-grade borrowing capacity to build and buy compute.

After seeing how the robotics and space sectors reacted to Unitree and $SPCX IPOs I'm not quite sure I want Anthropic to go public...

More new in here: -Anthropic saw positive adjusted operating income for the second quarter, but had a net loss of almost $42 bil in 2025, a roughly fivefold increase from about $8.3 bil in 2024

NEW: Anthropic expects to match or exceed the size of SpaceX's IPO, per sources, which would make it one of the largest-ever IPOs. Discussions ongoing and could change. w/ @BTLipschultz https://www.bloomberg.com/...
