Slack launches Slack Code, adding dedicated, project-specific code channels that let teams collaborate with AI coding agents “like teammates” across all plans
Slack Code provides a dedicated open space for teams to collaborate with AI agents.

Context & Ripple Effects
Slack has moved from AI that summarizes and retrieves information in conversations to a broader agent layer: Agents for Slack initially gave paid users access to Salesforce and third-party agents, while the new Slackbot made workflow assistance generally available. Slack Code applies that trajectory to software work by giving coding agents a dedicated project space rather than treating them as a general-purpose assistant.
The launch also arrives after Anthropic introduced an agentic coworker for Slack that learns workspace context. Making Slack Code available across plans makes project-level collaboration with coding agents a product surface available beyond the earlier paid-agent model.
First-order effects
Slack teams on any plan can place AI coding agents in dedicated project channels, giving agent output, requests, and team discussion a shared workspace.
Slack shifts coding-agent interaction from its general Slackbot and agent integrations toward a purpose-built code collaboration surface.
Second-order effects
Third-party agents previously offered through Slack must compete for attention inside a native project channel designed around coding work, rather than only through broad workspace access.
Replit's combination of Code Repair and real-time project collaboration now overlaps more directly with Slack's agent-assisted team software workflow, increasing the importance of where developers coordinate around agent work.
Third-order effects
If dedicated channels become the standard interface for coding agents, workplace chat products will increasingly compete to own the project context that agents use alongside human teams.
The pattern points toward AI agents being organized as persistent collaborators within workspaces, not isolated tools invoked for one-off summaries or fixes.
The trend: Workplace software is evolving from AI assistance embedded in conversations toward project-specific work surfaces where agents participate alongside teams.
Don't code alone. Slack Code is live. Humans and agents. Same channel. Same work. Launching today with agents from @AnthropicAI, @github, @Cognition, and @vercel. This is real multiplayer coding. See it at @Dreamforce #DF26

I have been using Slack with multiple agents for months. It is a nice place to build. And I am not paid by @Benioff.

Never. Count. Out. Benioff. Love how they are tapping the goldmine that is slack. This looks so cool in that it's coding agent independent (esp in a world of rapidly changing frontier) and also natively in slack. Slack def could be worth as much as rest of Sfdc or more.

It's interesting how Slack is developing. Most recently, there was the announcement of the deep integration of Claude into Slack (even Andrej Karpathy wrote about it), and now coding is being implemented.
