Z.ai debuts GLM-5.2, saying it has significant improvements for coding, agentic, and long-horizon tasks, with a 1M context window and MIT-licensed open weights

We're introducing GLM-5.2, our latest flagship model for long-horizon tasks.  It marks a substantial leap in long-horizon task capability …

for long horizon tasks they drop grpo-variant and go back to critic based ppo with token level adv. interesting!! [image]
  • @code_star Cody Blakeney on x
This is kind of insane. Seems like we have recursive self-improvement in the open source now. Impressive for _only_ 753B parameters. Congrats to the @Zai_org team! [image]
  • @deepwhitman Bilal on x
And then you'll look back and see how I told you Chinese labs will catch up and leave the US labs in the dust. - Proverb, Bilal tweets circa 2026

🚨 GLM-5.2 is @Z dot AI's latest model with open weights (MIT license). Let's go! Key details: 🧠 Significant improvements in coding, agentic tasks, and reasoning 📏 1M token context window ⚖️ Two modes: (max) for highest performance and (high) for better token efficiency 🔓 [image]

The MIT though 😍 Looks like a fantastic model to say the least. Will have a model card up post RMNP next week but https://z.ai/ remains one of my favorite labs

Lord Voldemort, the name that shall not be spoken Z AI/GLM-5.2 team so afraid of Kimi 2.7 that they didn't even include Kimi in the benchmarks 😀
  • @ksimback Kevin Simback on x
Playing with GLM-5.2 Just ran a long code review with it and it found a handful of items that GPT-5.5 missed, and GPT agreed with them So far I'm very impressed Going to use these two in combo going forward

What the fuck do you mean “slime for agentic RL”??? It contains agentic slime??? Has China achieved Gorm fluid synthesis???? [image]

GLM-5.2 is out and it's fully open! - 1M context window - MIT licensed - stronger long - horizon coding agents - two reasoning modes: max and high - same API pricing as GLM-5.1 https://z.ai/ built this one around long-running agent work. large codebases,

🤯 GLM-5.2 is here — built for long-horizon coding and agentic tasks, now with a solid 1M-token context. The strongest open-source coding model yet! Available now on Ollama's cloud, hosted in the US on the latest @NVIDIAAI Blackwell datacenter GPUs. Privacy policy and zero [image]

GLM 5.2 is an impressive model and performed better than GPT 5.5 on FrontierSWE! Excited to see more labs using FrontierSWE to measure long-horizon capabilities for coding We're working on some improvements to FrontierSWE and launching a v2 soon :) [image]
  • @andrewcurran_ Andrew Curran on x
Extremely powerful and MIT open-source. Mutuals who had early access are giving it great reviews. [image]
  • @xeophon Florian Brand on x
used it the past few days and it is a great model. still using a bit too many tokens for now (which in combination with CN servers makes it slow), but it knows how to use sub agents to explore things and then does so :) it being MIT is very much welcome, congrats zhipu!!

GLM 5.2 Is Open Weights And Rocks In Coding and Agentic Loops Another day, another kick ass open-source model!! Kimi 2.7 and GLM 5.2 are in an intense competition Available in ChatLLM alongside Opus 4.8 and GPT 5.5 TODAY [image]

Lets go, GLM-5.2 released as Open Weights model. tl;dr -1M context window -MIT-licensed open weights -Stronger long-horizon coding agents -Two reasoning modes: max and high -Same API pricing as GLM-5.1 Zai says GLM-5.2 was trained specifically for large-scale implementation, [ima…

They have reached Opus 4.8 levels already. Give them 2-3 months more, and they will easily reach Fable levels of SWE workbench evals. Chinese models will pave the path for humanity's future.
  • @mhdfaran Farhan on x
Open-weight models are getting scary good. GLM-5.2 brings frontier-level coding, long-horizon reasoning, 1M context, and MIT license. This is the kind of release builders should pay attention to. [image]
  • @andrew_n_carr Andrew Carr on x
deepswe, terminal bench 2.1, and swe atlas correlate the most strongly with “good coding vibes” based on all the open models I've tested. that puts GLM-5.2 comfortably in the lead for open weight models. 700B params is all you need?

Zai was gracious enough to give me a key to test out GLM 5.2. I used it on a few simple tasks and quickly realized this model is on another level. I committed to using GLM 5.2 solely for the weekend and yesterday on everything from simple data analysis, random queries, side

very cool to see this used in the actual model; indexer is the main bottleneck for inference speed in DSA and it seems competently unnecessary to have it per layer [image]
  • @ai_for_success AshutoshShrivastava on x
Open source must win. What's happening with Fable 5 and Anthropic makes this even more important now. Z ai just dropped GLM 5.2, an insanely powerful open source model beating Gemini 3.1 Pro and getting very close to GPT 5.5 and Opus 4.8. - Huge improvements in coding and [image]

GLM 5.2 is apparently the strongest Chinese model, and it'll be open this is quite a jump on CritPt. They have *finally* started to build general reasoners. I think it'll be very competitive on ARC-AGI 2 and WeirdML, too [image]
  • @scaling01 @scaling01 on x
We will see more of this later this year Chinese labs are now really starting to hill-climb the way we have seen monthly improvements from OpenAI and Anthropic I still want to see super long-horizon tasks for open models, but there's already a bunch of good coding benchmarks

BREAKING: GLM-5.2 is now 1st on Design Arena. With an Elo of 1360, GLM-5.2 has jumped ahead of the now unavailable Claude Fable 5. And it's open weights. This is an improvement of 4 positions and 27 Elo points to achieve one of the highest Elo scores in our code categories [image…

    > We propose IndexShare, which reuses the same indexer across every four sparse attention layers, reducing per-token FLOPs by 2.9× at a 1M context length. We also improve GLM-5.2's MTP Good demonstration that a lot could be squeezed out of “mere” DSA on benchmarks, too. [image]

GLM 5.2 ranks #3 on FrontierSWE. It is only behind Fable 5 and Opus 4.8, and it outperforms GPT-5.5. This is the first model that closes the large gap between models from Anthropic / OpenAI and other providers, and it is the strongest open-weight model by far. [video]

Still hard to expect the unexpected with AI. It goes to show how skilled many of the scientists are in China. They're hitting high peaks with much less compute. Overall, I think the US models are really ahead, but you can't just discount the Chinese labs. Not at all.
