    Encouraging. There's a broader point which is I think we will have to increasingly rely on private companies to help clamp down on crimes like theft as the government/police take less interest in doing anything about it.

    Mobile phone crime won't be solved by policing alone. It also needs coordinated action from industry. Having already seen the advanced security features introduced by Google and Samsung, I welcome the new agreement between Apple and the Met to protect mobile phone users.
