- I genuinely think a powerful argument for the value generated from Meta's AI investments for advertising infrastructure could be, “We're so successful with ads that we can avoid offering a subscription.” @eric_seufert · Eric Benjamin Seufert
- I think they could find a better and more compelling argument from the advertising angle if they could improve their storytelling capacity there. But Zuckerberg seems unwilling to champion that, so yet another subscription is offered (Meta Verified is the existing subscription that, curiously, remains separate from this). @eric_seufert · Eric Benjamin Seufert
- Meta announced Instagram / Facebook Plus in January has been testing them since March. If these products are moving into GA, the conversion rate must be at least somewhat promising. Beyond the revenue opportunity, which isn't material if you imagine the company does ~$240BN in ad revenue in 2026, I imagine Meta is feeling pressure to find an obvious example of monetizing consumer AI use. @eric_seufert · Eric Benjamin Seufert

$META continues to surprise me with “premium” subscription offerings. I obviously dont know who the customers are that even pay for these subscriptions, because NONE of the 200+ people I know very well pay for them I mean, why would I ever pay for Meta or @instagram 3.99 a month …

$META is flying after reports it is rolling out paid subscription tiers across its apps. Zuck looks like he is building subscriptions into Meta's next revenue layer beyond advertising while testing new AI, creator and business plans under the “Meta One” brand. [image]

So $META will now charge users for the privilege of being served nonstop AI slop ads. Bold new strategy to continue degrading the user experience to plug the gaping holes in Meta's cash flow statement, all to fund the most reckless capital spending spree of all time.

It's so nice being $META. Billions of engaged users. User base continuing to grow. Engagement continuing to rise. And can just snap their fingers to create a large, high-margin revenue stream whenever they want to. [image]

Something else that's interesting about the new $META subscriptions is they AREN'T ad free. So $META is not sacrificing any advertising revenue with the rollout of these paid experiences. If they can create a decent value proposition for the subscriptions without removing ads t…

This is insanely high margin too. Basically every incremental subscription goes straight to the bottom line. You don't need a ton of adoption to see a real boost in the numbers. Very bullish for $META

Did people really expect $META wouldn't charge a subscription for AI products and use their +3B distribution network? $SNAP makes $5B in ad revenue and $1B in direct subs revenue (growing 87% YoY). $META can add a few $10B to its bottom line just by providing solid-value subscr…
