Apple has also changed leadership of the secret division working on a non-invasive glucose sensor for future health wearables. It's moving from chip exec Tim Millet to Zongjian Chen and the Advanced Technologies Group responsible for modems, cameras, displays and batteries.

The company also has a new Ecosystems and Partnerships team run by Matt Costello, the person who has led development of Home and Audio products. He and Kevin Lynch, who runs Apple Robotics, will report to Chief Hardware Officer Johny Srouji.

Kate Bergeron, a John Ternus deputy who has long led Product Design, is moving up to run Product Reliability for all Apple devices. That's the prior role of Tom Marieb, the new head of all hardware who is replacing Ternus.
