    If you said in 2019 that in 2026 Chris Olah will be speaking publicly at the Vatican alongside two Cardinals and the Pope you'd assume we were well into the singularity at this point

    The fact that Leo has this as first encyclical (a huge deal if you know Catholicism), focused on ethics & human role, taking for granted that AI capabilities will massively improve, puts him in top 1% of global leaders who get it. Will be obvious to everyone in five years...

    The questions posed by AI are bigger than the AI community. We urgently need the world - religions, civil society, academics, governments - to participate in creating a positive outcome. I'm glad the Catholic Church is engaging, and honored to speak at the presentation.
