We're expanding our collaboration with Amazon to secure up to 5 gigawatts of compute for training and deploying Claude. Capacity begins coming online this quarter, with nearly 1 gigawatt expected by the end of 2026.

$AMZN Trainium is the next custom AI chip to catch fire as demand for AI compute knows no limit. 🚀

This is insanely circular. Why are the SEC and FTC not all over this? $AMZN invests $25B in @AnthropicAI Amazon is adding up to $25B to its previous $8B investment. This starts with $5 billion now, with $20 billion more unlocked by “commercial milestones.” The deal values

Anthropic is signing nearly 1 GW in *incremental* Trainium compute with this deal, in addition to any 2026 Trainium increases they had previously contracted for. So Anthropic is likely adding several GW in total (vs 1.4 GW EOY 25), consistent with other forecasts I've seen. [imag…

And here is the $AMZN Anthropic deal I predicted.  $AMZN to invest up to $25B in Anthropic.  $5B now at $380B Anthropic market cap.  Wow, $AMZN geting a steal here since Anthropic already +$1T in secondaries.  Anthropic will bring 1 GW total of Trainium2 and Trainium3 capacity on…

“we've secured 5 gigawatts for Claude” sounds like a bad startup mad libs joke you'd tell in 2015

OpenAI and Anthropic are targeting ~30GW of compute by 2030. today they are at < 3GW of compute each that's a 7-10x increase in 5 years. in absolute terms that's NYC's peak electricity load can you imagine what the path is to get there? the AI infra and supply chain build out

I start to wonder how much of Amazon's investments in these AI labs is in the form of AWS credits.

Four months ago OpenAI executives said Anthropic made a “strategic misstep to not acquire enough compute.” Here's what Anthropic has locked up since that quote: 5 GW from Amazon (announced today, plus $100B in AWS commitments over 10 years) 3.5 GW from Google and Broadcom

Amazon has compute so Anthropic has to pay for their compute and let them invest in the company. Circular deals are meant to puff up earnings. No earnings are being puffed here, believe me. However we are seeing a solid return on the data center now.. Jensen was right all along
  • @edzitron Ed Zitron on x
Where is the capacity exactly? Project Rainier isn't even close to 2gw as promised. How much actual capacity does Amazon have? These deals may as well be for a billion gigawatts
