    A few things: - yes, it's not technically bricked, just effectively - i am aware there's a world of DRM perverts out there who are doing unspeakable things to ereaders. I don't care to join them - i like a kindle bc its low effort and i don't want to work more to get a libby

    This is A NIGHTMARE. Amazon is bricking old Kindles, including my beloved Kindle 5 (with the side buttons). I hate the touch screen versions, I've tried them and I'm always accidentally flipping pages. [image]

    WHY. Amazon is one of the largest companies in the world, they certainly have the ability to continue supporting these older devices. A Kindle purchased in 2012 still works just as good for reading as it did then!
