Oracle Layoffs - The EMAIL. The job cuts will affect somewhere around 20,000 and 30,000 - which is about roughly 18% of their global workforce. This has been clearly evident since early-mid Feb as I have been alerting. [image]

Today, I was impacted by Oracle's layoffs. It's a strange feeling, but I'm incredibly proud of what I was able to build over the past 4 years, from intern to full-time and through my work in the developer community, and grateful for the experience, mentors, and teammates along

Guys if we stopped funding slop just because nobody is buying it and it shows no economic advantage for businesses to use and people hate us for it and we're basically gambling the entire company on a single slot machine pull then it'll look like we chickened out, and ORACLE DOES…

#Oracle has just fired 12000 employees in India. Out of the 30000 employees fired globally, 12k are in India. And this apparently is the first of two rounds of layoffs at the Company. 30 k employees in India now down to 18k.

Agree, to an extent. The layoffs at Microsoft, Oracle, and Meta are largely the result of aggressive, capital-heavy bets on data centers, unlike firms such as Accenture and Salesforce that followed a different investment path. Yes, some layoffs will hit those companies too, but

Oracle was my first employer. Months after i joined in 2005, there were mass layoffs in the Santa Monica office, from whom i took orders in Bangalore. Every other year, Oracle makes these massive layoffs. One reason i quit within a year and went for higher studies was this

Oracle just laid off 30,000 employees. When the AI-inspired layoffs started, people were first in denial ("Oh they are just correcting for the over-hiring that happened after COVID") but I think by now, it should be pretty clear that this is coming for us all. I have read

But here's what nobody is telling you. Oracle didn't fire 30,000 people because AI replaced them. They fired 30,000 people because they borrowed $124 billion to build AI data centers. And now they need the cash. TD Cowen estimates these layoffs free up $8-10 billion in cash

Oracle's move to lay off 12,000 India employees last night may be biggest single shot workforce reduction move in India, particularly white collar. There will be after shocks including in already tight job market. Hopefully this is more to do with Oracle and its financials + AI
