Google launches Lyria 3 Pro, a music generation model with better creative control and that lets users create three-minute tracks, up from Lyria 3's 30 seconds
Google announced on Wednesday that it's releasing Lyria 3 Pro, a music generation model, a month after Lyria 3's release.

Context & Ripple Effects
Google initially put Lyria 3 into beta in the Gemini app for short, 30-second music generation with AI-generated cover art. The new Pro release expands that initial format from clips toward longer-form output.
The update also follows Google's plan to bring ProducerAI into Labs on a Lyria 3 preview, positioning the model family closer to a dedicated creation workflow rather than a standalone novelty feature.
First-order effects
Users of Lyria 3 Pro can generate tracks up to three minutes long instead of the prior 30-second limit, with more creative control over the result.
Google gains a higher-capability tier in a music-model lineup that had only recently introduced Lyria 3's 30-second Gemini beta.
Second-order effects
Longer outputs make AI music more usable for drafting complete song-length material, raising the value of controls that help users iterate rather than merely produce short samples.
Music-generation rivals will face greater pressure to compete on controllability and output scope, not only on whether they can generate audio at all.
Third-order effects
If this progression continues, generative-music products are likely to differentiate around creator workflow depth—duration, steering, and iteration—rather than one-off generation demos.
As these tools move into more complete creative workflows, the industry will need clearer product-level approaches to synthetic-media controls and creator-facing governance.
The trend: Generative music is evolving from short-form AI experiments into workflow-oriented creation tools with longer outputs and finer user control.
All Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro outputs are embedded with SynthID, our imperceptible watermark for identifying Google AI-generated content. Simply upload a file and ask Gemini if it was generated using Google AI, and Gemini will check for SynthID. [video]

I had access to the new Google Lyria 3 Pro music AI. Its quite good. I've been ruining(?) Rilke by giving the AI the First Elegy & asking it to make it “more 1990s boy band” ("oooo the beginning of terror, girl") Catchy! It is also nuts that you can ask an AI to do this & it can …
Longer tracks = more possibilities. Now that you can create tracks up to 3 minutes long, here are some ways to use Lyria 3 Pro: • Higher fidelity tracks with verses, choruses, and bridges • Longer instrumentals for staying focused, studying, or deep work • Custom tracks for
Lyria 3 Pro is expanded to three minute tracks. I've been enjoying playing with the 30 second version, but this will be a big improvement. It's not live for me yet. When it is I will test this out today. Lyria is more powerful than people realize, you can do some cool stuff.
