The Switch 2 continues to get more expensive (e.g. removing the Mario Kart + Switch 2 bundle, increasing accessories prices), just not through direct hardware hikes. Nintendo Switch Online is probably next

An insufficiently covered consequence of Nintendo hiking the cost of physical media games (and thus encouraging digital purchases) is that it de facto requires players to buy more SD cards... which makes the console more costly overall, and digital games costlier too

Looks like digital is $60 and physical is $70. Hoping the new price point sticks for future first party releases for the sake of most gamers who have no preference. As a physical collector, it sucks to have to pay the premium. More people are definitely going to lean towards [ima…

FINALLY! There's no reason why digital games should cost the same as physical ones. Nintendo has effectively dropped the last nuke towards Game Stop and physical game retailers though.

Great news! So digital will be getting cheaper! ... right? ...... right Nintendo?
  • @smashjt @smashjt on x
Digital will not be cheaper. Physical will be MORE expensive. You want to impress people, Nintendo? Cut the digital price to what your SAME margins are for physical after shipping, store cuts, and fees.
  • @botalksgames @botalksgames on x
Well this is massive. Digital first party Nintendo games will be cheaper than physical moving forward.
  • @realradec @realradec on x
this reminds me of when Sony made digital PS Vita games like 5-10 dollars cheaper than buying physical i like this move by Nintendo. Buying a digital game should be cheaper than their physical alternative imo [image]
