Meta’s chip effort has progressed from its 2023 plan for MTIA to train and run AI models to next-generation MTIA chips entering production in 2024. The latest roadmap puts a production deployment behind that earlier program rather than leaving it as a research or infrastructure ambition.

Using MTIA 300 for content ranking makes a core, recurring platform workload the first visible deployment target. That matters because Meta had previously paired MTIA with its broader RSC and video-acceleration work, including plans for dedicated AI and video chips.

  • Meta can run content-ranking work on the MTIA 300 now, creating an in-house compute path for that workload.
