GIFT LINK: “In order to strike a blistering 1,000 targets in the first 24 hours of its attack on Iran, the U.S. military leveraged the most advanced artificial intelligence it's ever used in warfare, a tool that could be difficult for the Pentagon to give up even as it severs

So here's my impression: most of the targeting work and so on is not done by Claude but rather by in house computer vision systems and so on that feed their results to the chatbot for “reasoning” and as a user interface.  The llms probably cannot drive the lower level tools 1/2 […

#altmanAI is FULL OF SHIT.  —  the original line was “no US mass surveillance” + “no fully autonomous weapons”, but also “within legal boundaries”.  —  this is important and does not get mentioned enough.  the regime is breaking the law *all the time*.  and altmanAI chose to “tru…

The words in OpenAI's contract likely don't mean what most people think they mean.  This isn't speculation about future abuse.  It's the documented operating procedure of the NSA for decades—a practice exposed repeatedly by whistleblowers, litigated in courts, and eventually conf…

constant posting by @sama et al on the DoD deal feels a lot like “we are winging it and figuring it out as we go” and less like a principled stance about anything. maybe that's par for th course, will probz work out, but if there's a guiding north star, I don't see it

How exactly does Sam Altman dig deeper into the PR nightmare every time he hits the timeline? Between this and the joke of an “AMA” the other night, he'd probably best be served either keeping quiet for a couple months or going full Palmer Luckey

I really cannot see how Anthropic's position benefits at this stage from communications like this. Seems it just pushes the Trump Admin to escalate further while also alienating potential allies in the industry. They already had a strong hand. Sometimes silence is best.
