OpenAI needs to reject this contract if Anthropic is declared a supply chain risk, even if the terms offered to OpenAI are better than the ones offered to Anthropic. The Pentagon's behavior is totally unacceptable, and the industry needs to say so with one voice.

if OpenAI makes a deal with this government it is over for them they will have sold their soul that point you can no longer defend the employees, as they will be complicit hypocrites signing the notdivided letter, but not taking any action when it matters fire sam and greg [image…

Two possibilities: Either (1) OpenAI is *not* actually taking the same line as Anthropic and Sam is misleading the company, or (2) the USG was deliberately interfering in and sabotaging Anthropic's IPO in OpenAI's interest (multiple Trump backers have major OpenAI positions)

anyone trying to opportunistically cozy up to government demand right now is stepping straight into a generational perception minefield with both their employees & their customers. there's no thread the needle strategy here. you are what you do, when you do it.

At the OpenAI all-hands, staff were told that the most challenging aspect of the deal for leadership were concerns about foreign surveillance, and that there was a major worry about AI-driven surveillance threatening democracy, according to the source. However, company leaders

If true this completely invalidates the entire argument of DoW about Anthropic, no?

The Anthropic dispute makes it clear that the Trump regime will not tolerate American businesses taking an ethical approach to emerging technology.

Either the DOD is taking a softer stance with OpenAI (which seems hard to believe) or OpenAI is prepared to make more concessions here than it is acknowledging [embedded post]

I sincerely hope this leads to a mass talent exodus from OAI to Anthropic. Until now, it was possible to brush off Anthropic's principles as empty promises — they sounded good, but in some sense they were still untested. Sure, Anthropic had delayed certain features (like giving

it's good that anthropic has a backbone, horrifying that the DoD is marking them a supply chain risk over very reasonable (necessary!) restraints, i am feeling uncertain about the OAI deal (really hope theyre being honest!) i couldnt write better dystopia sci-fi if i tried
