First Counter to The Verge article: Sarah Bond started her position as President of Xbox on October 26th, 2023. Phil Spencer was talking publicly about the initial vision of “Xbox Everywhere” July 2020, and then “Xbox Everywhere Focus” August 2021. Sarah Bond was a Corporate

I'm not saying Phil or Bond were perfect but this is a certified hit piece on a Monday morning to change the narratives from over the weekend. I think people are gonna see that Phil and likely even Bond were stopping a lot more layoffs and AI integration from happening with Xbox.

Are they already throwing Sarah Bond under the bus? That's dirty stuff, bro.

I do feel like Sarah is being a tad scapegoated a bit here. Even if the “This is an Xbox” campaign was hers, there were people higher up the chain that should've recognized how much of a bad idea it was. I dunno. Tom Warren reports on Sarah Bond: https://www.windowscentral.com/ .…

it's..... interesting to me that this framing of bond's departure takes care to note that she was not a gamer, and that the other incoming female exec is not a gamer either.  i'm not entirely convinced that “being a gamer” helps someone be a good executive at xbox www.theverge.co…

there's obviously very useful reporting here from @tomwarren.co.uk, but it's hard for me to read this and not feel like bond is being thrown under the bus for the failure of a strategy that was dictated more or less from the top of MS to Xbox. www.theverge.com/tech/883015/ ...
