    Also makes a mockery of US claims that the DSA has targeted American Big Tech disproportionately: Commission sources estimate that around 1/3 of probes opened have been against American firms, 1/3 against Asian (which I guess means Chinese...), ~1/3 vs European

    They're also looking into whether Shein is addictive - as Brussels has done in the past for Temu & most recently TikTok. Commission also worried about the lack of transparency in the rewards + recommender systems

    Market ban would be last resort - but comes after Paris tried to suspend Shein last year over the sex dolls. Commission confirms that Shein removed them quickly, but big reservations over the vetting system in place for products sold on the platform https://www.scmp.com/...

    In the EU, illegal products are prohibited whether they are sold on a store shelf or through an online marketplace.  —  We will now assess whether Shein complies with these rules and fulfils its responsibilities under the DSA.  —  ec.europa.eu/commission/p...
