We're committing to cover electricity price increases from our data centers. To ensure ratepayers aren't picking up the tab, we'll pay 100% of grid upgrade costs, work to bring new power online, and invest in systems to reduce grid strain. Read more: https://www.anthropic.com/...

The politics of the AI mega-buildout are going to get very ugly, very fast. I'm surprised we haven't seen more organized pushback already. Smart move by Anthropic to try to get ahead of this (although I'm skeptical it'll be effective at breaking into the discourse).

This means Microsoft, now Anthropic have committed to pay for the energy infrastructure required for AI datacenters. Won't be long before this becomes standard, adding to the cost side of the balance sheet. Profitable AI should be a focus for 2027.

Great move by Anthropic here. I think going forward, the public isn't going to accept any new data centers that don't make a similar commitment. The challenge now is planning and validating new additions meet this standard.

Anthropic is the third major AI company in 30 days to make this exact pledge. Microsoft went first on January 13. OpenAI followed on January 21. Now Anthropic on February 11. Three companies, same playbook, same month. The timing tells you everything. POLITICO obtained a White
