Elon Musk announces xAI implemented a reorganization that “required parting ways with some people”, after two xAI co-founders said they were leaving this week

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday announced the the company's xAI artificial intelligence venture implemented a reorganization that …

xAI was reorganized a few days ago to improve speed of execution.  As a company grows, especially as quickly as xAI, the structure must evolve just like any living organism.  This unfortunately required parting ways with some people.  We wish them well in future endeavors.  We ar…

Since xAI was formed just 30 months ago, the small and talented team has made remarkable progress. The future has never looked more exciting! [video]

I've left xAI.  As part of the founding Macrohard team, working in the war room since Day 1 was a high-velocity chapter I won't soon forget.  I'm grateful for the opportunity to build alongside an exceptional team at xAI, and for the inspiration I drew from the leadership and peo…

I've also left XAI this week.  I worked on several improvements to our favorite app and recommendation model, including the X video feed, search bar, user modeling, starter-packs and the home feed model.  I wholeheartedly want to thank @elonmusk for creating this org that the wor…

The small and talented xAI team continues to drive remarkable progress toward the next frontier of intelligence. In just 30 months, our talented engineers have achieved leading multimodal models, massive generation scale, and breakthroughs in agency and real-world applications.

xAI employees suddenly have (possibly vested) SpaceX stock. And many of them felt the company was problematic in how not “maximally-truth-seeking” it was (or so they tell me privately). Given sudden wealth and a chance to do something else, they're bailing from the company.
  • @autismcapital @autismcapital on x
People are most likely leaving xAI because they rolled their shares into SpaceX shares which is about to IPO at a quadrillion dollars and they're about to get giga paid. There's no incentive for them to stick around or work. They'll just sit back and watch the singularity.

Elon doing Elon things. He riffed the Starlink team early on and it took off afterwards. Same with Supercharger team. Mad respect for making these incredibly hard decisions to maximize future efficiency. CEO of the century.

The current generation of Grok Code is training the next generation of Grok Code. Recursive self-improvement. They believe they're on an exponential takeoff. Coding is now one of the highest priority efforts in the company. They have a million H100 equivalents ready to train the …

From the xAI all-hands (just released publicly, uncut): Guodong Zhang: “I can already feel the AGI, at least for coding.” He told kernel and compiler engineers to seriously ask whether it's still worth it, or whether it's time to join the effort and automate yourself. “What a [vi…

xAI's all hands meeting. Meaningful to watch to understand what we do to achieve greatness. We are comparably a small company with extremely large scope for exceptional engineers to join to work on. If you are interested in being part of the team, please feel free to reach out!

Elon Musk: xAI is only two and a half years old - basically a toddler. Nonetheless, we've achieved an incredible amount in a very short period of time Our competitors are 5, 10, or in some cases 20 years old. They have much larger teams and they started off with far more [video]

Elon Musk says Grok Code could be SOTA in 2-3 months. For context: Grok Code Fast 1 already scored 70.8% on SWE-Bench Verified, topped the OpenRouter leaderboard, and launched just last August. xAI is moving fast. The coding wars are heating up! [video]

xAI is creating the only truth-seeking AI available. In fact in comparison after comparison, it is the SOLE fact-based LLM. Impressive work in such a short time.

If I were a SpaceX investor, I'd be pretty pissed about the bailout of xAI.  You go from being a shareholder in a company reportedly making a profit of $8B/year, to one that's likely losing at least $4B a year and growing... Elon's best company just bailed out one that was flound…

Couple interesting things (new to me): - Macrohard is, roughly, computer-use agents. - xAI wants to lean much more into coding model. - Elon would find it epic to build a satellite factory and catapult ("mass driver") on the moon lol

My 4 months at @xai have been the highest learning and impact period of my career.  I've had to work harder and smarter than ever before and I wouldn't change it for anything.  To give you a better sense of how unique this company is, in only 4 months, I've had the pleasure of co…

Remember when Elon fired the whole Starlink team? Or more recently the Supercharger team? Yup, everyone made a fuss about it back then. Now, both products are the best in their category with a big margin.

I'm super tempted. I've developed tech for lunar factories for 20 years and now it is about to happen.🥹 But I'm also already excited directing the Stephen Hawking Center, and we plan to operate on the Moon's surface. Maybe we can develop that together with xAI.

I think the real reason for the recent departures of senior staff at xAI is that Elon Musk knows how to build AGI. He no longer needs people focused on theory. AGI can be achieved by scaling existing approaches.

So proud to work here! 🚀 Fun fact: My son is the exact same age as xAI. 💙 Every time Elon drops the ‘toddler’ line about xAI crushing it despite being so young, I feel it in my soul. Both are growing faster than I can keep up with—and both are smarter than expected. 😅

Worth listening to this 45 minute xAI internal company overview. While xAI is doing many things (Grok LLM, coding model, video generation, Grokipedia), maybe the most significant one will be Macrohard which is a digital real time human emulator. 80-90% of computer software is
