I loved the idea for our Super Bowl ad as soon as the team showed it to me. It's unique, just like our QR code ad in 2022. Most people half watch commercials (buzzed, in a loud room, with lots of people). It takes something unique to break through. Turning 100M+ screens into

the Super Bowl is off, the wives are tired, the kids are playing Roblox instead of throwing the football, no one was inspired to buy anything and not one laugh or recurring joke from an ad was had the marketers lost, the agency ad era ends with a whimper of true mediocrity

I'm not really sure that the first 48 seconds of the OpenAI ad were needed to spam in capslock “YOU CAN JUST BUILD THINGS” Anthropic ads only firing against OpenAI also feels off. I would've liked to see something more creative and more aura farming.

  • @hilalayddn Hilâl on x
coinbase didn't just run an ad they engineered a moment. familiar music → collective singing → lowered skepticism → emotional association with “economic freedom.” by the time the rational brain comes back online, the message already feels true. this is what marketing looks

On my way to the Super Bowl with @tryramp. I'm rooting for NBC this year. Nearly a billion in ad spend on offense, I think they'll put up at least $3b in LTV. Keeping an eye on ROAS though, that's where the game is really won and lost. [image]

My favorite Super Bowl memory is still when Elon Musk was at the 2023 game in Arizona and panicked about his Eagles tweet getting less engagement than Joe Biden's. He then flew immediately to Twitter's San Francisco office to start emergency meetings to fix the site's algorithm.

Anthropic changed the copy in their Super Bowl ad: Original: Ads are coming to AI. But not to Claude. New: There is a time and place for ads. Your conversations with AI should not be one of them. [video]
  • @albertcamslut Kat on x
All of the Super Bowl ads are AI slop and then there's Mike Tyson in black and white using every adjective he knows to describe a great big fat person like Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs
  • @ccpool_daniel Daniel on x
Probably one of the worst adverts. It doesn't educate on Crypto, nobody singing this song, I mean it doesn't even make you want to sign up to Coinbase. What a waste of millions of dollars.
  • @kath_krueger Katherine Krueger on x
feels like the age of the “Super Bowl ad” is officially over. you used to feel like someone worked on a pithy beer ad all year to make a splash and now it's all just AI, body horror, and half-hearted woke

Fuck that @ring commercial so hard. Y'all are gonna turn that feature on thinking you're helping find lost dogs when you're really just going to be helping ICE and shit have a video mesh of every neighborhood? Insane. Way to soft launch community facial tracking
