Lunar is pursuing both the household hardware layer and the software layer that can coordinate distributed batteries. That positioning arrives as installation software is also attracting capital: Berlin-based Cloover recently combined funding and debt to support solar, battery and heat-pump installation workflows.

The broader arc is a renewed focus on storage as a way to add usable power capacity. Earlier, AWS tested Tesla battery systems for data-center power capacity, while newer grid-management companies are targeting capacity already present on the network.
