@om @Facebook Siding between Apple and Facebook is like deciding* whether its best to be stabbed or shot.

I find the idea of Facebook debating Apple on any aspect of digital media to be amusing let alone Facebook claiming to have any seat at the table on privacy practices. Facebook had to turn over its ethics card five billion years ago. https://twitter.com/...

If I were Apple today, and after my tweets about my 6 weeks of the Apple runaround , I would not be criticizing another social media platform or hardware :) https://twitter.com/...

@Infinitystudios @Facebook Not really. That analogy is not even close. As an end customer, I know I am not getting shanked in a thousand ways to hell with Apple. With Facebook, you know they are going to eventually slice you and then shoot you. And then sell your bones for profit…

This is, without a doubt, the 2nd best news of 2020 regarding our future and I wish I heard about it more. App and web ad tracking cancellation will introduce some much needed accountability and humanity to technology. https://9to5mac.com/...

@Kantrowitz woe unto any tech behemoth that thinks it can win a fight over which is the most morally superior

    2. And Facebook has abused you, used your personal data without compensation to enrich Zuckerberg, and now censor you on behalf of the Democrat Party and the Biden campaign. It's the great deceit.

@Kantrowitz Looking forward to Apple's ad network. Has to be coming soon.
  • @tompainetoday @tompainetoday on x
@Kantrowitz no one ever talks about when apple had the chance, they took all of our itunes playlist data to make genius. no doubt they track much of what users do on their products to make product improvements. facebook's product is ads. apple needs to settle down here.

always been lots of bad blood between Apple and Facebook but this is the worse it's been in awhile two tech giants that can't live without each other going for the jugular, fascinating to watch play out
  • @om @om on x
Like anyone with half a brain would equate Apple's approach to data with the douche baggy approach of @facebook and it's constant abuse of data rights of average humans. I mean, no one has abused privacy and data more than @Facebook https://twitter.com/...

Did a breakdown of the feud between Apple and Facebook after Apple's privacy chief called Facebook out over its “disregard for user privacy.” Why Facebook's response was a big “No u”: https://www.cnet.com/...
  • @alexeheath Alex Heath on x
Fiery statement in response to this from Facebook, arguing Apple is using its “dominant market position to self-preference their own data collection while making it nearly impossible for their competitors to use the same data. They claim it's about privacy, but it's about profit”…
  • @kurtwagner8 Kurt Wagner on x
Big tech is fighting! Apple slammed FB earlier today over its data collection. FB just responded with a (very long) statement saying: 1. Apple is just distracting us all from its own privacy issues 2. Apple is abusing its market dominance
  • @katekayereports Kate Kaye on x
Of the many disingenuous statements made by both firms, the most offensive is Facebook's assertion that small biz needs them to advertise and stay in business. What they fail to say is Facebook destroyed the places small biz used to rely on to reach customers: local newspapers. h…
  • @kbaxter Kyle Baxter on x
lol, Facebook thinks it's a burn to say Apple sees it as in their interest to provide their customers with privacy protections. That's a good thing, Facebook! https://twitter.com/...
  • @willoremus Will Oremus on x
sure, it's easy to bash big tech companies like facebook when you're just some critic who doesn't really understand the industry or how it works, like *checks notes* apple inc. https://twitter.com/...
  • @kantrowitz Alex Kantrowitz on x
Surprised Apple is doing this. Getting to a fight with Facebook will only drag it into the mud, exposing Apple for what it is: Another big company that puts profits over people. https://twitter.com/...
  • @herrmanndigital David Herrmann on x
Apple and FB are having a “who is worse” at privacy battle in the news. Meanwhile millions of businesses are stuck in the middle forced to use FB ads to stay open during a global pandemic. Work this shit out behind the scenes. https://twitter.com/...
