GitHub says it is doing away with all non-essential cookies and will no longer feature “irritating” cookie banners on GitHub.com and its subdomains

Lots of people celebrating: https://github.blog/... This just means Github is managing identity themselves and sending info to subprocessors on the backend People getting hysterical about cookies was stupid to begin with, removing them doesn't materially improve privacy at all

Github, the largest host of source code in the world, has removed non-essential tracking cookies from its website. Who's next? 👀 https://github.blog/...

GitHub says goodbye to cookie banners https://techcrunch.com/... via @techcrunch LOVE IT! This feels like the next big thing after pop-ups that just needs to be dramatically reduced to make the Web experience improve dramatically.

This is what we did on the https://gov.uk/ Design System site. The EU law doesn't have to mean banners everywhere, it can mean less tracking https://twitter.com/...

This is really impressive from GitHub. Your company can do this too! You don't need “analytics”; replace your marketing department with people who are able to directly see, understand and act upon what your users are doing with your product. https://github.blog/...

Good. I'd rather cookie banners go away by being able to configure those settings at the browser level, but I'd also be happy for more and more companies to remove their non-essential cookies altogether. https://twitter.com/...
