To some extent, Stripe is trying to become the global OS for small businesses and startups but I think Shopify stands a much better chance. Facebook pretends to be but they really don't get it yet. Others are in the stratosphere. It is all still wide open for grabs.
Third-party data is slowly dying (iOS 14.5, etc) and so are traditional digital ads. First-party data (FPD) has become the go-to preference. By expanding Shop Pay to Facebook + Google, they will collect more FPD. Why: Shopify is going to sell self-serve ads to its merchants.
