Cc @VerizonSupport you folks should be able to detect sms spam, spoofing my own vzw number, that spoofs your own bill pay messages. Doesn't take advanced #ai #ml https://twitter.com/...
  • @pattymo Patrick Monahan on x
Just got one of these. Insanely great work by everyone involved https://twitter.com/...

this SMS spam from your own number is surprisingly easy to do. I've used SMS gateways in the past that let you send SMS messages from any number, or appear as “SANTA” to wish people Merry Christmas. SMS is the Wild West of messaging https://twitter.com/...

Verizon says it's working with law enforcement to try and stop those spam texts that appear to come from your own phone number https://twitter.com/...

I blame @verizon for failing to implement authenticated caller ID by the @FCC deadline. 😕 https://www.fcc.gov/... https://twitter.com/...

Weird hackers - spreading links to Russian media? - are behind a wave of spam texts targeting Verizon. ⁦@chriswelch⁩ with the story https://www.theverge.com/...
  • @samitsarkar Samit Sarkar on x
so you're saying that Rob Schneider, not Samit Sarkar, sent me those spam texts? https://twitter.com/...
  • @davepell Dave Pell on x
Wait, if they successfully played the part of me, wouldn't they be “good actors” https://twitter.com/...

Here's our story on Verizon's statement. I'm still seeing reports of these spam messages from your own number coming through as of today, so the carrier seems to be having a hard time fully blocking the wave of texts. https://www.theverge.com/...

This just happened to me too https://www.theverge.com/... This is insane. Lots of people are going to be harmed https://twitter.com/...
