  The challenge for Twitter in getting out of the content moderation business is that it needs to create distributed moderation tools while maintaining the ability to step in on the illegal content to safeguard the network and brand. So far, there's no evidence of working on that.

  I suspect what Jack & Elon really want is for Twitter to be more like Reddit. Meaning that the service doesn't make moderation decisions except for illegal content (or content that gives the app a bad reputation like Coontown did). This is behind Jack's decentralization push.

  Twitter has a very poor record of looking out for its users' safety even before Musk. That's why most authoritarian governments (and some democracies) are running troll farms or influence ops on twitter. It's also how the Saudi spy ring managed to operate w/in Twitter HQ.
