Artists/animators stood with and fought for actors and writers during their strikes last year, that energy should be returned in solidarity. Boycott all genAI. Call/write your reps and request heavy regulations on how datasets are built and Ai is trained. Consent matters.

The fucking audacity to shop plagiarism software to Hollywood when the CTO can't even name the training data when asked.

The descent into slopworld is going to be hard and fast and dotted with useless arguments about how it's no one's involved fault, because culture getting sold to make more money for executives is so natural it can't even be remarked upon

Reminder that these AI companies are haemmoeraging money via the staggering costs of data needed for these services. Pert of their propaganda mission is to legitimise it by pretending it's more important and in use than it is. The “Filmmakers” are likely YouTube Bros.
  • @samueldeats Samuel Deats on x
Any actor, director, artist, etc who goes along with this is shooting themselves, their colleagues, and the future of every other talented individual who wants to be a filmmaker right in the foot. Generative AI is theft on a massive scale, period.

Just so we're clear: 1. Hollywood already uses AI to make movies. 2. Major studios are wary of OpenAI because they want to protect their copyrights. 3. Filmmakers are the key potential clients. OpenAI needs them to bless the tech.
